How To Choose High Hardness Milling Cutter
What are the general points to select high hardness milling cutters? At present, there are more and more high hardness materials in many industries. Therefore, higher requirements are put forward for the service life and machining efficiency of high hardness milling cutter in the high-speed machining of high hardness materials. Generally, we can select high hardness milling cutter from three points:
1. High hardness milling cutter selects the type of tool coating according to the type of workpiece and hardness. For example, when processing workpieces with hardness below hrc40 such as carbon steel, tixco coating of Warner company can be selected. When machining workpieces with hardness of about HRC50 such as alloy steel s and tool steel, miracle coating can be selected. When machining workpieces with higher hardness, the tool shape, cemented carbide material and coating can be selected. They are the miracle coating for machining high hardness materials.
2. The high hardness milling cutter selects the shape of the end milling cutter neck according to the shape of the workpiece. The neck shape of ball end milling cutter is divided into standard type, long neck type and cone neck type, which can be selected according to the machining depth and shape of the workpiece. The long neck type and cone neck type can be processed by deep excavation, and the interference angle should be considered when choosing between them. At the same time, compared with the long neck type, the cone neck end mill has high rigidity, which can improve the cutting conditions and achieve better machining accuracy. The cone neck end mill should be selected as far as possible.
3. High hardness milling cutter selects end milling cutter with different ball joint accuracy according to machining accuracy. The circular arc accuracy of ball end milling cutter is usually ± 10 μ m. But there are also ± 5 μ M high-precision end milling cutter can be selected for high-precision machining.
